Why it matters
AHA/CDC + ESC: persistently elevated is associated with cardiac risk; transiently high during infection.
If it’s low
A low hs-CRP is favorable — little systemic inflammation.
If it’s high
An elevated hs-CRP means active inflammation. The key is to distinguish acute (infection, injury — transient) from chronic (visceral fat, smoking, stress — worth calming).
What to do
First rule out an acute infection (repeat in a few weeks, when you are well). For chronic inflammation: omega-3, a Mediterranean diet, sleep, movement, less visceral fat.
