Ranges we useMatthews DR et al. (formula)
| Rating | Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Good | below 2 | The insulin-sensitivity index is in the favourable range. |
| Worth improving | 2 – 2.9 | Moderately raised index, suggesting reduced insulin sensitivity. There is no single international threshold, so your lab's limit applies. |
| Talk to a doctor | 2.9 and above | Raised insulin-resistance index. Check with your doctor together with glucose, HbA1c and waist circumference. |
